Bonnie L. Martin

Profile

Ms. Martin represents clients throughout the country in areas of employment law and both general and employment litigation.  She has provided training and counseling on employment issues to management in both the private and public sector, and has experience drafting employee handbooks and policies.  Ms. Martin routinely defends employers against claims related to breach of contract, wage & hour issues, ADA and FMLA compliance, harassment, discrimination and retaliation.  In addition to representing employers in court, Ms. Martin has appeared on behalf of employers before state and federal agencies.  She has also spoken at numerous seminars on a variety of employment law topics.

In addition to her work in employment law, Ms. Martin also defends against single plaintiff claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and a variety of federal and state law causes of action, brought against student loan servicing entities.  

Experience

Experience: 
  • Successfully defeated putative class action against large health care system alleging violations of Indiana wage statutes
  • Successfully defeated attempt of individual plaintiff to maintain class representative status in case alleging Indiana wage statute violations against large health care system
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of large automotive dealership entities against multiple claims of harassment, discrimination and wage payment violations, upheld by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals
  • Obtained summary judgment in full on behalf of student loan servicers in Georgia and New Jersey against requests for declaratory and injunctive relief, claims of Fair Credit Reporting Act violations, and various state law claims
