Debra A. Colby
Profile
In 2001, after completing a clerkship with United States Magistrate Judge Roger B. Cosbey in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ms. Colby joined what is now the Bloomfield Hills office as an associate attorney. Ms. Colby has concentrated her practice in ERISA litigation. Additionally, Ms. Colby defends discrimination and retaliation claims on behalf of employers in state and federal court. Ms. Colby has handled various aspects of litigation, at both the trial and appellate court levels. Additionally, Ms. Colby has represented clients before Administrative Agencies.
Aside from the litigation aspect of her practice, Ms. Colby also provides advice to clients on a myriad of topics. Ms. Colby also drafts various employment related documents including handbooks, employment applications, drug testing policies, mandatory arbitration policies, and severance agreements.
On a personal note, Ms. Colby mentors junior high and high school students in her church youth group. She has also participated in mission trips to Bolivia and Russia.
