Donelle R. Buratto
Profile
Ms. Buratto represents employers in state and federal litigation and administrative proceedings before government agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. Her experience covers a wide range of employment law issues, including matters involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, retaliation against whistleblowers and public policy discharge. Ms. Buratto also counsels employers in efforts to avoid and minimize litigation on employment issues, including but not limited to wage and hour law compliance and employee hiring, discipline, and termination.
Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Ms. Buratto worked in the labor and employment and general liability practice groups of a prominent Metro Detroit full practice firm.
Experience
Ms. Buratto has a wide range of experience in all areas of employment law, including:
- Serving as second chair counsel for trial of an Americans with Disabilities Act claim, including preparation of trial materials, examination of an expert witness and management of exhibits
- Providing employment counseling to corporations regarding employment matters, including hiring, discipline, discharge and compliance issues under the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Drafting, modifying, and updating of employee policies and handbooks.
- Serving as local counsel for another national employment law firm in numerous matters involving claims of discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour law violations.
