Bio:

An Of-Counsel in the Houston office, Mr. Ivey has defended employers – through seventeen years in practice – against claims of race, sex, religious, age, national origin and disability discrimination in both state and federal lawsuits and administrative proceedings; against charges of wrongful discharge and various employment torts in state courts; and against unfair labor practice charges and in connection with union organizing campaigns, elections, and decertifications before the National Labor Relations Board. In recent years, Mr. Ivey has been particularly active in assisting clients in the formulation and implementation of company-wide arbitration programs; in enforcing those programs through the courts; and in litigating the underlying employment claims in arbitration. Mr. Ivey co-wrote an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court on the applicability of the Federal Arbitration Act in the employment context.

Mr. Ivey also devotes a substantial percentage of his time to advising clients about the broad scope of employment issues they face, including, but not limited to, those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act, the WARN Act, the overtime and child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Employee Polygraph Protection Act, and various provisions of the Texas Labor Code. Mr. Ivey also frequently assists clients in the formulation or revision of employee policies and procedures.
