Bio:
Rebecca Sigmund advises companies on immigration alternatives for prospective employees as well as matters relating to employment eligibility of workers and related I-9 compliance. Ms. Sigmund’s practice involves advising domestic employers on I-9 compliance procedures including internal company I-9 audits, training and counseling. This practice includes counseling with pro-active compliance measures, ICE and DOL audits, as well as mergers with and acquisitions of existing companies by clients.
Another area of Ms. Sigmund’s immigration practice involves securing appropriate temporary working visas and permanent residency for executives, managers, investors, technical personnel and other professionals to authorize their employment in the United States. Her clients include public and private domestic corporations and foreign companies doing business in the United States, as well as individual foreign businessmen and investors.
Ms. Sigmund speaks and writes regularly on immigration law topics, including I-9 compliance, for a variety of professional, business and civic groups and served as a past president of the Georgia Chapter and on the Board of Governors of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She serves as Chair of the Georgia Bar International Law Section.
Ms. Sigmund also has an active pro bono practice representing immigrant survivors of domestic violence, trafficking and other violent crimes. In the community, she has served on various boards of organizations serving children and immigrants.
Ms. Sigmund was the recipient of the 2006 S. Phillip Heiner Award presented by the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation for Community Pro Bono Services. She was ranked as a Georgia Immigration Notable Practitioner in the 2006, 2007, 2008 (Band 2) and 2009 (Band 1) Chambers USA rankings and also listed as one of Georgia’s Super Lawyers from 2006-2009. She is included in the 2010 list of Best Lawyers of America. |
