Bio:

Mr. Sar is a trial lawyer who regularly represents management in labor/employment law and related matters.  Bob often represents prominent employers and their executives in high-stakes disputes and advises them about strategies to avoid/manage labor law concerns.  He defends corporations accused of civil rights and EEO violations, wage payment problems, employment contract violations, retaliation against whistle-blowers and regulatory violations. Bob regularly assists employers facing government investigations.  North Carolina Business Magazine has named Bob to its Legal Elite Labor & Employment lawyer list seven years in a row.  He is also recognized in the Super Lawyer publication for his work defending employment litigation.  He is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available.  Mr. Sar has defended hundreds of lawsuits on behalf of employers.  Among his current work is defending one of the most widely publicized civil rights lawsuits pending in the nation. 

Some of his representative completed cases include the defense of:

  • Jenkins v. Akzo-Nobel Coatings.  4th Circuit affirmed summary judgment in breach of employment agreement and fraud case.
  • Rahman v. BASF, Middle District of NC.  Defense jury verdict in national origin discrimination case.
  • McGlynn v. Duke University.  NC Court of Appeals affirmed summary judgment in employment tax dispute.
  • Allen v. IBM.  4th Circuit affirmed motion to dismiss in “Woodson claim” intentional injury case.
  • Lee v. Lockheed Martin, Eastern District of NC.  Defense jury verdict in age discrimination, breach of employment agreement, fraud and violation of California hiring law case.
  • Reed v. MCI.  4th Circuit affirmed motion to dismiss in age discrimination case.
  • Telesca v. SAS Institute.  NC Court of Appeals affirmed motion to dismiss in retaliatory employment discrimination case.
  • Gebremedhin v. Whole Foods, Eastern District of NC.  Defense jury verdict in intentional infliction, FMLA and sex discrimination case.
Various media organizations have relied upon Mr. Sar for insight and comment on labor and employment issues.  Mr. Sar is a member of the North Carolina Bar Labor Section Council.  Bob was appointed to the Administration of Justice committee of the North Carolina Bar.  He is a member of The Conference Table.  He serves on the executive committee of the Board of Directors of The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.  He served on the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors from 1996 to 2002.  He was a member of the legal committee of the Triangle’s bid to host the Pan American Games, a member of the City of Raleigh Arts Grant Committee from 1996 to 1999 and served on the Wake County Convention Center Task Force in 2003.  He enjoys helping leaders solve problems. 

While attending law school on an academic scholarship, Mr. Sar was elected to membership in Phi Kappa Phi honor society, Order of the Barristers and served as Managing Editor of The Campbell Law Review. Mr. Sar worked in the West Wing of the George Bush, Sr. White House.
