Bio:
Beverly Baker has practiced in the area of employment law – counseling and litigation for over 20 years. She has handled wrongful termination and promotion cases, discrimination claims (age, race, gender, disability, etc.), wage and hour disputes and racial and sexual harassment claims. She assists employers to develop policies and programs including employee handbooks, conducting internal investigations, and negotiating employment-related agreements, such as non-compete covenants, confidentiality agreements and severance agreements to comply with state and federal employment laws. Ms. Baker conducts on-site employee and management training on diversity and other employment issues affecting the workplace.
Ms. Baker also practices alternative dispute resolution. She is an arbitrator on the employment and commercial panels of the American Arbitration Association. She is also on the commercial and employment panels of the National Arbitration Forum and National Arbitration Mediation, on the roster of neutrals for The Alliance at Cornell University, the Alabama State Bar Association, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. She has been certified by the Alabama State Bar Association as a Mediator, an Appellate Mediator, and has successfully mediated hundreds of commercial and employment related matters.
Ms. Baker has also served as a Commissioner on the American Bar Association’s (“ABA”) Commission on Opportunities for Minorities in the Profession and on the Council of the Litigation Section of the ABA. She is a Fellow of the American Association of University Women. Ms. Baker is listed in the Best Lawyers in America, was inducted into the Alabama Law Foundation (limited to one percent of lawyers in the State of Alabama), and recently selected for membership in the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers. |
