James T. Conley

Profile

Mr. Conley practices employment litigation throughout California, and is based out of the firm’s Orange County office.  Mr. Conley has extensive experience defending employers throughout all aspects of the litigation and administrative claim process—including trial and appeal—in all areas of employment law.  Mr. Conley has achieved complete summary judgment in numerous matters.  These judgments in his clients’ favor were upheld in several published decisions before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Court of Appeals. 

Mr. Conley also defends employers against class actions, including claims under California’s Business and Professions Code section 17200.  Mr. Conley has class action trial experience and he has defeated motions for class certification.  In addition, Mr. Conley defends employers against claims of employment related industrial espionage and theft of trade secrets.  Mr. Conley has represented employers with large bargaining units as well and drafted employee policies and procedures subject to bargaining unit negotiation.

Prior to law school, Mr. Conley worked for the Executive Clerk of The White House in the West Wing.  There, Mr. Conley advised the President on whether he was acting within his power under Article II of the Constitution during the signature of legislation.
