Joseph M. Saburn
Profile
Joseph M. Saburn represents and advises clients on a broad range of executive compensation and employee benefits issues, including mergers and acquisitions, board of director counsel and representation, senior management employment, retention and severance arrangements, and related issues; short- and long-term compensation and stock-based programs; and qualified and non-qualified benefit matters and ERISA compliance. He has extensive experience helping companies develop coordinated employment, compensation and benefit strategies to better manage their executive and employee issues. In addition, he helps multinational clients better manage their expatriate and third country national employees. He also advises governmental organizations and agencies on Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) compliance matters.
Joe has spoken frequently on employee benefits, executive compensation and mergers and acquisitions, before numerous trade and professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, ERISA Industry Committee, The Conference Board, European Centre for Employee Ownership, and International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Crain's New York, and has been included in Who's Who in American Law.
Joe was formerly the lead benefits counsel at Viacom, and a lead ERISA counsel at AT&T. He is co-author of the chapter "Reductions in Force" in Downsizing - Law and Practice.
