Joshua M. Davis

Profile

Mr. Davis is the Managing Shareholder of the Boston Office. He has specialized in the area of labor and employment law and related litigation for almost 20 years. His practice involves the representation of employers in day to day matters and high stakes litigation.  His clients include financial services firms; law firms; pharmaceutical companies; radio stations; cable television providers; automobile dealerships; country clubs; and not for profit entities.  The most recent edition of Chambers USA reports that “Josh is very pragmatic in his advice, reassuring in his manner, and powerful in his advocacy.

Mr. Davis often teaches the Employment Discrimination course at Northeastern University School of Law and appears regularly on The Boston Sunday Review and the Loren & Wally Show (Boston radio programs) as a commentator on legal affairs.

Immediately following graduation from law school, Mr. Davis served as law clerk to the Honorable Stephanie K. Seymour of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.  He then joined Hill & Barlow, where he ultimately chaired the Employment & Labor Law Practice Group.  After Hill & Barlow, Josh joined Goulston & Storrs where he served on the Executive Committee.  He left Goulston & Storrs, with a group of his colleagues, to open the Boston office of Ogletree Deakins in 2009.

Experience

Experience: 

Mr. Davis has acted for employers in discrimination actions, contract actions, emergency matters involving the enforcement of restrictive covenants, and claims advanced under the constitution and civil rights statutes.  In addition, to his trial practice in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, Mr. Davis regularly handles appeals in the state and federal courts.

Mr. Davis also regularly provides counsel to both unionized and non-unionized employers in employment and labor matters.  This day-to-day advice covers a wide range of topics including: disability and leave matters; workplace training; discipline and termination matters; and advice designed to balance legal requirements with business imperatives.  Mr. Davis has represented many of his clients for more than a decade. 

Mr. Davis also taught English at St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire.
