Kwabena A. Appenteng is an associate in the Chicago office of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., where he represents management in a wide range of employment matters including federal employment discrimination and wrongful discharge cases, breach of contract cases, and non-competition/trade secret matters.  Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Mr. Appenteng was an associate at a boutique litigation firm where he represented both private sector and public sector management in employment, tort and contract related matters.

Mr. Appenteng graduated from the John Marshall Law School in January, 2008, where he was a Dean’s List Student and a member of the Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Honors Council.   While in law school,  Mr. Appenteng was selected to represent John Marshall at the 2007 Georgetown National White Collar Crime Competition and was awarded both the Edith and Philip Baim Academic Achievement Scholarship and the 2007 Illinois Judicial Council Scholarship.  Mr. Appenteng was also selected as a member of Phi Delta Phi Honors Society.  Prior to graduating, Mr. Appenteng clerked for Illinois Appellate Court judge, Justice P. Scott Neville Jr.

Mr. Appenteng is the author of An International Perspective, a column published bi-monthly in Chicago Lawyer magazine. Mr. Appenteng has also been a featured columnist in the Chicago Law Bulletin newspaper.  Mr. Appenteng was raised in the United Kingdom and has spent time living and traveling to countries across Europe and Africa including Ghana, South Africa, Togo, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland.
