Robert A. Sar

Profile

Bob is a trial lawyer who regularly represents management in labor/employment law and related matters. National employers rely on Bob to advise their employment practices and represent their interest throughout the country. He has defended hundreds of lawsuits, taken hundreds of depositions and successfully obtained many jury verdicts and arbitration awards.

He often represents prominent employers and their executives in high-stakes disputes and advises clients facing scrutiny by the government, media or on the internet. He defends corporations accused of civil rights and EEO violations, wage payment problems, employment contract violations, non-competition and trade secret disputes, retaliation against whistle-blowers and regulatory violations. Bob has recovered damages for violations of non-compete contracts. 

He is also an experienced corporate investigator, leading internal investigations and working with management and corporate boards to respond to whistleblowers.

  • Jenkins v. Akzo-Nobel Coatings.  4th Circuit affirmed summary judgment in breach of employment agreement and fraud case
  • Rahman v. BASF, Middle District of NC.  Defense jury verdict in national origin discrimination case
  • Meehan v. DNA Security, NC Court of Appeals affirmed summary judgment on multiple contract claims arising from Duke Lacrosse case
  • McGlynn v. Duke University.  NC Court of Appeals affirmed summary judgment in employment tax dispute
  • Allen v. IBM.  4th Circuit affirmed motion to dismiss in “Woodson claim” intentional injury case
  • Lee v. Lockheed Martin, Eastern District of NC.  Defense jury verdict in age discrimination, breach of employment agreement, fraud and violation of California hiring law case
  • Reed v. MCI.  4th Circuit affirmed motion to dismiss in age discrimination case
  • Telesca v. SAS Institute.  NC Court of Appeals affirmed motion to dismiss in retaliatory employment discrimination case
  • Gebremedhin v. Whole Foods, Eastern District of NC.  Defense jury verdict in intentional infliction, FMLA and sex discrimination case
