Suzanne L. Martin started her legal career at a national labor and employment boutique in Irvine, California representing management. She relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2000 and continued to specialize in employment law within a general practice setting before opening the Las Vegas office of Ogletree Deakins in January 2010.
Experience
Ms. Martin’s practice encompasses the defense of employers against claims of discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, national origin, etc. filed by employees with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Nevada Equal Rights Commission and similar administrative agencies. In addition, Ms. Martin represents employers in state and federal court against claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, violation of the wage and hour laws, breach of contract and restrictive covenant agreements and misappropriation of trade secrets.
Ms. Martin also performs compliance and preventative advice and consultation to clients on a day-to-day basis regarding the hiring, discipline, and termination of employees, employee complains of harassment and discrimination and requests for leave. Ms. Martin regularly conducts in-house seminars for clients, their employees and managers on harassment and discrimination, wage and hour compliance and general personnel practices, as well as wage and hour and personnel practice audits. In addition, Ms. Martin reviews and consults with employers about their personnel handbooks, policies and procedures and employment contracts.
In addition, Ms. Martin reviews and drafts employment agreements, non-competition, non-solicitation and non-raiding agreements, confidentiality and trade secret agreements, severance and separation agreements, employment policies, procedures and handbooks.
