William K. Doran

Profile

Mr. Doran’s practice is concentrated in safety and health law, labor law, employment law, and litigation.

Mr. Doran represents and advises companies with respect to issues arising under Federal and State Safety and Health Statutes. Mr. Doran represents companies in accident investigations, special investigations, audits and discrimination investigations conducted by OSHA, MSHA, and state agencies. He represents companies in litigation before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission and the federal courts. He also represents companies and trade associations on local and national issues within the purview of federal agency administrators.

Mr. Doran also advises companies on a broad range of labor and employment issues. He has represented companies in organizing campaigns and on a variety of matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act and the Railway Labor Act. Mr. Doran has conducted management seminars regarding employer obligations and employee rights under the National Labor Relations Act and other statutes. He also counsels companies regarding employment discrimination matters arising under federal and state laws, including the Americans With Disabilities Act.

Mr. Doran speaks and writes frequently on a variety of human resources topics. Most recently, he co-authored the "Inspections and Investigations" chapters of Workplace Safety & Health, published by Clark Boardman Callaghan. He also authored an article entitled, "Vicarious Liability of Mine Operators for Independent Contractors’ Violations" for the University of Kentucky’s Journal of Natural Resources and Environmental Law.
