Facing elevated levels of union organizing activity and the prospect for new “rules of the game” which will significantly reduce the time for management to respond, many of our clients are evaluating their internal readiness. While most employers are painfully aware of their need to monitor and understand any new rules, many are also concerned about their in-house ability to manage the simple fundamentals of labor relations.
Designed for senior executives, senior HR leadership and in-house Counsel who either have never had to deal with labor issues or who need a quick refresher, this three-part web based course addresses, among other topics, critical legal concepts such as:
- Understanding the National Labor Relations Act and the National Labor Relations Board
- Union authorization cards, bargaining units, and voter eligibility questions (including supervisor questions)
- Solicitation, distribution, electronic communications, and access
- How to manage critical issues during a campaign
- Protected, concerted activity
- Strikes, handbills, picketing, and banners
Moderated by Homer Deakins and taught by experienced Ogletree Deakins labor practitioners, this course will consist of three 90-minute sessions delivered on the web. These sessions will give in-house leadership the confidence they need to manage labor-related issues in this new era of union activism. Sessions are scheduled for November 3, 10 and 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. EST. Each session will be recorded if you can’t attend a particular presentation.
Make sure your organization is prepared.
