Shareholder   |   Philadelphia

Donald served as the managing shareholder for Ogletree Deakins’ Philadelphia office from 2017 through 2023.  Across all industries, including financial services, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, and technology, Donald has an extensive employment litigation practice, representing employers in federal and state litigation involving trade secrets and employment restrictive covenant agreements, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, wage and hour, FMLA, ERISA, wrongful discharge, torts, and breach of contract. He also effectively handles equal employment opportunity matters before federal, state, and local agencies. In addition to this employment practice, Donald maintains a traditional labor practice, advising on and litigating union matters on behalf of employers involving unfair labor practice and representation proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board; labor arbitrations involving discharge, discipline, and contract interpretation; and collective bargaining negotiations.  As a true partner to employers, Donald focuses on preventative counseling to avoid litigation and disputes.  Donald’s advice and counseling practice includes the drafting and negotiation of executive employment agreements, severance agreements, and restrictive covenant agreements; drafting employee handbooks and policies; and due diligence and negotiation of labor and employment aspects of corporate transactions.   He is a frequent speaker and author on all of these topics.

Chambers USA has recognized Donald as a leader in labor and employment law and clients have described him as a “sophisticated thinker,” a “highly competent negotiator,” and “practical and responsive.” Donald is also recognized in Best Lawyers in America in Litigation – Labor and Employment, peer rated as AV “Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell, and recognized as a top rated labor and employment attorney in Philadelphia by Super Lawyers.
