Mr. Kaplan’s practice focuses primarily on the area of labor and employment law. He has defended employers in Texas and Illinois against charges of employment discrimination and retaliation. Mr. Kaplan has also participated in the defense of employers against claims of unfair competition, breach of contract, covenants not to compete, tortious interference, breach of fiduciary duty and misappropriation of trade secrets. Mr. Kaplan also assists employers in drafting and negotiating employment agreements, severance agreements, and covenants not to compete.
Mr. Kaplan graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2008, where he was a member of the Moot Court Executive Board and recipient of the Rickert Award for Pro Bono Service. Mr. Kaplan is proficient in Spanish and has volunteered in Spanish-speaking communities in Guatemala and Bolivia. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Kaplan was a project manager in the information technology industry.
