Barnett Q. Brooks has been the Managing Shareholder of the Firm’s Tampa Office for 4 years and provides advice, counsel and litigation support to nationally based clients on all aspects of employment law.
Barnett has conducted hundreds of management seminars and for over 30 years has litigated, arbitrated, and mediated employment law matters including wage and hour, reductions in force, sexual harassment, discrimination, discipline and discharge cases.
Barnett has practiced with law firms in Maryland and Florida and was Assistant General Counsel with a Fortune 100 company. He began his professional career as a Detective with the Baltimore City Police Department and then Human Resources Manager.
Barnett brings a practical and common sense perspective to the practice of law.
Experience
Barnett represents clients in all aspects of employment litigation, serves as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association (AAA) has mediated or arbitrated over 100 cases and was appointed to mediate over 75 cases by various state courts in Maryland.
Barnett has personally investigated and favorably resolved for his business clients over 2,000 discrimination cases before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state or local Fair Employment Practice Agencies in Maryland and Florida.
Barnett regularly engages in training programs including the Firm’s annual Workplace Strategies Seminar for clients and the Tampa Office’s Annual Client Seminar. He also provides in-house training for individual clients.
Barnett also leverages his extensive law enforcement and investigative background by assisting corporate clients with internal fraud and theft investigations.
