Carolyn Hall’s practice focuses on labor and employment litigation and counseling. Carolyn has experience counseling employers in compliance with federal and state employment laws on a wide range of workplace issues. She also defends employers in litigation ranging from individual employment claims to class actions. For the past several years, Carolyn has been actively involved in the wage and hour arena, representing clients in both federal collective actions and state class actions.
Carolyn represents employers in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies including the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and the California Employment Development Department. Carolyn also represents clients in alternative dispute resolution proceedings such as mediation and arbitration.
Carolyn helps employers prevent litigation or manage risk through counseling on issues such as wage and hour compliance; disability accommodation; leaves of absence; unfair competition; disciplinary terminations; and preparing employment and confidentiality agreements, employment policies and handbooks, and severance agreements. Carolyn also assists clients with the employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and advises employers regarding reductions in force. Carolyn conducts training of managers on preventing workplace discrimination and harassment.

- Obtained summary judgment of California overtime claims against international wholesale bakery company in collective and class action filed in federal court
- Defense of nationwide collective and class action alleging misclassification against well-known international payroll service provider
- Defense of wage and hour collective and class action alleging misclassification of insurance adjusters and asserting state and federal overtime claims, case settled on terms very favorable to employer
- Defense of international life safety and property protection company in wage and hour class action
- Represent national insurance company in employment discrimination litigation
