Mr. Engeman is the founding shareholder of our St. Thomas office, co-resident in the Boston office and is the Practice Group Co-Leader for the firm’s International Practice Group. He has handled employment and general litigation matters, union campaigns, collective bargaining and related matters for employers across the United States and in multiple Caribbean jurisdictions, including (but not limited to) Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, the British Virgin Islands, and all three of the United States Virgin Islands. Through relationships with local counsel in other Caribbean islands and with the Employer Organizations in those islands, Mr. Engeman is able to act as a liaison for U.S. and International corporations that are doing business or seeking to do business in the region.
Mr. Engeman advises employers on a day-to-day basis with regard to wage and hour issues, employee policies and manuals, and counsels employers in managing crises arising in the employment context in numerous locations. Mr. Engeman also has significant experience representing clients in union grievance proceedings, collective bargaining and arbitration, as well as advising clients in union avoidance and during organizational and decertification drives. Mr. Engeman represents many major hotel and resort companies, as well as national and international companies engaged in retail, commercial, light and heavy industrial, transportation, and communications businesses and numerous other businesses. Mr. Engeman started his career as an attorney in the Labor and Employment department with Goodwin Procter's Boston office.
Mr. Engeman is a former United States National Champion in rowing and represented the United States as a member of the National Team at the World Rowing Championships and World University Games. Mr. Engeman also loves sailing and has won the International Rolex Regatta. Mr. Engeman is a private pilot and has flown throughout the Caribbean.
