As an associate at Ogletree Deakins, Jaime focuses on all aspects of employment law, but more specifically focuses on employment litigation and advising clients regarding wage and hour laws to avoid liability. Jaime has drafted revisions to company handbooks in order to ensure their compliance with federal statutes and minimize employer exposure and focuses on e-discovery developments. She is also a member of the firm's Wage and Hour Practice Group.
Jaime is a 1998 graduate of University of Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After undergraduate school, Jaime worked for Target Corporation in Human Resources for both the stores and distribution. While working for Target Corp., she implemented HR policies and procedures for the stores, helped create a centralized recruiting program for the distribution centers, and worked extensively on employee relations issues. Jaime attended law school at Indiana University - Indianapolis, where she was Executive Managing Editor of the International and Comparative Law Review, and actively participated in national competitions in Moot Court as a member of the Order of the Barristers. Jaime also completed more than 200 hours of Pro Bono work for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and The Protective Order Pro Bono Project working with domestic violence cases and victims.
Upon graduation from law school, Jaime began her career with the Atlanta office of Ogletree Deakins, after clerking with the Indianapolis office during law school. In Atlanta, Jaime focused on many aspects of employment law including, but not limited to, employment litigation. In 2010 and 2011, Jaime served as in-house counsel for Regis Corporation in Minneapolis where she advised internal clients on handling employment disputes as well as implemented an internal wage and hour compliance program.
Experience
Jaime advises and defends clients in federal and state employment-related lawsuits, including actions alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation, various torts and breach of contract. Jaime’s experience also includes defending employers in administrative proceedings and hearings.
In addition, Jaime helps employers avoid litigation by providing advice and counsel on a variety of employment issues, and by assisting them in the development of effective employment policies and procedures. Jaime provides advice and counsel to employers concerning such topics as personnel policies, wage and hour laws, employee discipline, hiring and termination issues, noncompete and nonsolicitation agreements, reductions in force, and other employment matters. Jaime also has extensive experience reviewing and creating employee handbooks and policies of all types; severance agreements; conducting internal investigations; and providing training for employers on employment-related issues.
