Martin Rodriguez received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law in 2009. While attending law school, Martin interned at both the Texas Supreme Court and the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston, where he assisted in drafting opinions in civil and criminal matters.
Before working with Ogletree Deakins, Martin worked at another labor and employment law firm where he also represented management, including defending employers in class action lawsuits and large consolidated cases.
Mr. Rodriguez’ practice focuses primarily in the area of labor and employment law, representing employers before state and federal courts, and before a variety of administrative agencies. Mr. Rodriguez has participated in the defense of employers in many aspects of employment litigation, including charges of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, workers’ compensation, and wage and hour claims. In addition to litigation, he has helped draft employee handbooks and various employment policies and practices.
Martin is also certified as a mediator in Texas. He has mediated several small claims court cases and resolved every case for which he served as mediator.
Experience
- Obtained successful jury verdict in Texas state court for a large national radio broadcasting company as second-chair trial attorney.
- Helped successfully obtain an arbitration award for one of the nation’s largest home-building companies in a matter involving several claims of discrimination.
- Represented large global petrochemicals company at the administrative and court level involving discrimination and workers’ compensation retaliation claims.
- Obtained summary judgment in the Southern District of Texas in favor of a large, national freight services company in suit brought by former and current employees alleging race discrimination, racial harassment and hostile work environment, and retaliation under Title VII
