Mr. Murphy is a shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ Washington, D.C. office and focuses his practice on employment and labor counseling and litigation. Mr. Murphy represents clients in a variety of industries, including information technology, biotech, defense, broadcast, financial services, hospitality, and trucking. He has substantial experience successfully defending employers against claims of discrimination in federal and state court and has represented clients before such local agencies as the Montgomery County Human Relations Commission, Fairfax County Human Rights Commission, and D.C. Office of Human Rights. Mr. Murphy has also handled complex unfair labor practice and representation cases before the NLRB and litigated wrongful discharge actions brought by employees covered by collective bargaining agreements. Mr. Murphy regularly counsels and represents clients on a wide variety of labor and employment issues, including covenants not to compete, hiring and firing decisions, collective bargaining negotiations, and state and federal wage and hour laws and collective actions. Mr. Murphy is also the firm’s relationship partner for two fortune 50 clients with whom the firm has national preferred provider agreements.

A graduate of Catholic University Law School, Mr. Murphy concentrated his studies in the field of labor and employment law. He was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in labor law studies and received the Plato Papps Labor Law Scholarship. Mr. Murphy has worked for the firm since graduating from law school.
