Philip counsels employers in a wide range of industries. His practice focuses on representing employers in all types of litigation before federal and state courts. Philip also focuses on representing employers in traditional labor matters regarding union organizing, arbitration, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board.
Philip is frequently called upon to represent clients in administrative proceedings and investigations before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, the OFCCP, and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission.
Prior to entering private practice, Philip served as a law clerk for two years to Judge Joy Flowers Conti of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Experience
- Obtained the voluntary dismissal with prejudice of all claims against an airline following the filing of a Motion to Dismiss in a Railway Labor Act case
- Drafted a successful Brief to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in an employment discrimination case affirming the District Court’s entry of summary judgment as to all claims
- Obtained denial of class certification in Fair Labor Standards Act collective action on behalf of a banking client
- Obtained an arbitration decision in favor of an employer regarding the interpretation of a collective bargaining agreement’s vacation pay provisions
- Drafted a successful summary judgment motion on behalf of a healthcare client in a Fair Labor Standards Act misclassification case
- Drafted a successful summary judgment motion on behalf of a healthcare client in a Pennsylvania Whistleblower Law action
- Obtained a declaratory judgment on behalf of a municipality in which the client’s police pension ordinance was found to be lawful
- Drafted a successful summary judgment motion on behalf of an employer in an Americans Disabilities Act action resulting in the dismissal of all claims
