Robert L. (“Bob”) Ivey has been practicing in labor and employment law in Texas since May 1988. He was Of Counsel at Vinson & Elkins LLP in Houston until March 2003, at which time he joined Ogletree Deakins. His practice includes both litigation and counseling of clients, and he has handled matters in Texas state courts, and in federal district and/or appellate courts in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. He has also appeared before various administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, and in proceedings arising under the Office of Federal Contracts Compliance Programs.

Bob has defended numerous clients in connection with state and/or federal complaints of employment discrimination; allegations arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act; union organizing and election matters; collective bargaining; arbitration proceedings, in both the traditional labor and today’s “employment litigation” contexts; allegations of various state “employment torts;” ERISA denial of benefits claims; covenants not to compete and related matters concerning the obligations of former employees under various employment agreements; and issues related to the application of traditional labor law in the context of bankruptcy.
