Sara Anthony's practice focuses on defending employers and management in employment-related disputes, including disputes involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, failure-to-accommodate, FMLA interference, noncompetition and non-solicitation covenants, trade secret, and other related state- and common-law claims. Ms. Anthony's practice also includes defending employers in complex class and collective actions brought under the FLSA and various other state wage laws.
Ms. Anthony's extensive employment litigation experience includes taking and defending multiple key witness depositions, including taking numerous Plaintiff depositions, defending depositions of key management-level employees, and taking key third-party witness depositions. Ms. Anthony has drafted numerous successful summary judgment and other dispositive motions, represented employers in settlement conferences and in mediations, defended EEOC on-site inspections, and represented clients in defense of administrative charges brought by the EEOC or state administrative bodies. Ms. Anthony also has AAA arbitration experience. Ms. Anthony’s recent experience and successes include:
- Obtaining pre-answer dismissal of Missouri Human Rights Act (MHRA) claims in Jackson County (Missouri) Circuit Court
- Obtaining summary judgment and dismissal of Iowa federal court case involving multiple claims asserted under the FMLA and ADA
- First-chairing a three-day arbitration involving five claims brought under the ADA, Title VII, and Section 1981
Ms. Anthony is originally from Olathe, Kansas. She began her legal career as a federal judicial law clerk for the Honorable K. Gary Sebelius of the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.
