Ms. Nichols has extensive experience representing clients in all types of employment matters. Her practice focuses on employment litigation, defending employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower claims, wrongful termination and wage and hour issues.
Ms. Nichols frequently guides clients to take what is learned through administrative complaints and litigation to address any underlying problems that may have resulted in allegations. Her intent is to partner with her clients to understand their business and to use her experience to help the client avoid mistakes made by others. Sarah provides preventive advice to clients on various personnel issues including employee discipline and termination, workplace violence, background checks and the development of preventive policies and procedures to avoid employment claims and litigation.
Sarah provides strategic advice and counseling to clients on all challenges related to the cross-border transference of a workforce and the hiring and handling of employees overseas. Admitted to practice in both California and Australia, she enjoys using her experience to translate a variety of foreign legal concepts so U.S. companies can ensure their policies, contracts and payroll processes comply with local laws across the globe.
Sarah is a frequent speaker for trade groups and associations as well as private employers and provides compliance and liability prevention training for managers.
She currently teaches at Hastings Law School as an Adjunct Fellow in the area of pretrial practice and employment discrimination law.
