Dan has spent over thirty years representing employers in employee relation matters including labor negotiation, arbitration, NLRB representation elections and statutory compliance with respect to equal employment, wage and hour, and the National Labor Relations Act.
A significant portion of Dan’s practice involves structuring corporate policies to maximize efficiency and productivity of employees including LEAN, continuous improvement, gain sharing, profit sharing, and various employee involvement programs.
Dan has extensive experience in employment issues in connection with mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring. During the last twenty-five years, Dan has negotiated approximately fifteen labor contracts per year with all major labor unions. Dan has extensive labor negotiating experience for manufacturers including automotive, aerospace and steel companies.

- Chief labor spokesman for over thirty years for a ten billion dollar multinational company
- Negotiation team member in numerous contracts with USW in top table, multi plant, steel industry negotiation
- Advises a privately held, multi plant, multi billion dollar equipment manufacturer
- Has successfully negotiated the shut down of over forty unionized locations
M + A
- Regularly advises Private Equity Companies on labor issues in connection with acquisition
- Helps to formulate and obtain new work systems in connection with the acquisition of the assets of failed businesses
- Represents Portfolio Companies of several large Private Equity Companies
Union Free
- Has advised a multibillion dollar company, with over two hundred U.S. locations, in remaining union free for the last thirty-five years. Not one of their plants has become unionized during that period.
- Has developed strategies, processes and policies to remain union free under a broad Neutrality Agreement
- Has been involved in approximately fifteen decertifications
Arbitration
- Has successfully arbitrated against USW, UAW, IAU, IATSE, IUE, and UFCW in connection with contract interpretation and discipline cases
- Successfully arbitrated a large retirement benefit claim filed by USW after a plant closure
NLRB
- Successfully prosecuted a UC petition overcoming a geographical jurisdiction provision which was clearly set forth for in a collective bargaining agreement
- Successfully handled numerous “R” cases
- Successfully defended a 10(j) action filed by the NLRB in connection with an unscheduled pay increase made the day before an election
