The opioid crisis in the United States costs tens of thousands of lives per year—and some of the victims overdose at work. Naloxone (Narcan and RiVive are two available versions) can reverse the effects of opioids and save lives, and employers are increasingly considering stocking the product at work. The FDA’s recent approval of nonprescription over-the-counter naloxone nasal sprays makes the life-saving drug more accessible to employers that want to have them on hand in case of an emergency.
